Information we use
When you visit, the web server can receive your IP address and technical request information, such as the page, time and browser. We use this to deliver the site, investigate faults and protect it from abuse. Our basis is our legitimate interest in running a reliable, secure publication. We do not use visitor data for advertising or analytics in this first edition.
When you email us, we receive your address and what you include. We use it to answer enquiries, consider corrections and handle privacy requests. Ordinary correspondence and corrections rely on our legitimate interest in communicating with readers and keeping reporting accurate; we handle requests to exercise privacy rights under our legal obligations. You do not have to email us to read the site.
Please do not send confidential source material or sensitive personal records until we have agreed a suitable intake process. This mailbox is not an anonymous or secure-source channel. The first edition has no public accounts, comments, contact forms or newsletter.
Service providers and AI
UK2 provides our website hosting and email mailbox and may handle technical access records and email for us. We have asked UK2 to confirm this account’s data locations, sub-processors, backup arrangements and any transfers outside the UK, including applicable safeguards. We will update this notice when those details are confirmed. Ask us for the current position at the address above.
We may use AI to help research and draft articles from public news sources. A human editor makes publication and material-correction decisions. Reader emails and privacy requests are excluded from that workflow.
How long we keep information
We keep messages in our active mailbox while dealing with them and for as long as needed for follow-up, a correction, a dispute or a legal obligation. We review resolved routine correspondence at least annually and remove it from the active mailbox when no longer needed. We are asking UK2 how long its server logs, archived logs, mailbox copies and backups are retained. We will update this notice when it answers. Removing a message from our active mailbox may not immediately remove provider backups.
Cookies and your choices
The public first edition does not use analytics, advertising or third-party embedded media. Public readers do not need an account. Editors use a separate sign-in area with authentication cookies. We will review new cookies and tracking before adding public features.
Your rights and complaints
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct or erase your personal information, or restrict its use. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Some rights have exceptions; we will explain if one applies. Email hello@gbabeski.com to make a request or raise a privacy concern. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
